Position: Telecommunications Network Engineer
Salary: $70 000 AUD + Super
IBSG Australia is an Australian based company providing Business Process Integrations Solutions for a wide range of Australian/New Zealand clients/customers. An opportunity has arisen for a telecommunications network engineer to join our dedicated team in a fast paced, high impact environment. In this role, you will be primarily working with Cisco products, so it is imperative that you are familiar with them, particularly switches and routers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Auditing current network architecture and present recommendations
- Designing network solutions ensuring security policies and practices are maintained to a high standard
- Providing technical input to project planning and implementation phases
- Implementing, operating systems installation, monitoring, networking and/or software development and testing
- Monitoring bandwidth and network activity by analyzing information to ensure both efficient and effective network operation
- Understanding and reacting quickly to issues involved with administering and maintaining corporate infrastructure, including network connectivity, corporate WAN, Internet access, email etc.
- Quickly resolving all IP network issues to reduce downtime while ensuring client Service Level Agreements
- Verifying network connectivity using basic utilities (including: ping, traceroute, telnet, SSH), SHOW & DEBUG commands
- Configuring, verifying, and troubleshooting VLANS, VTP, PVST, Trunking, InterVLAN routing
- Determining the appropriate classless addressing scheme using VLSM and summarization to satisfy addressing requirements in a LAN/WAN environment
- Documenting network problems and changes working in diverse management environments
- Overseeing migration of WAN links to new service provider, set up TFTP server to backup, and restoring configuration and IOS image files for the Cisco routers, and Catalyst switches.

- Gateway Redundancy Protocols(HSRP, VRRP and GLBP)
- Port Security, Dot1x, VACLs, Private VLANs
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Communication Engineering or similar
- Be open to interstate and international travel opportunities
- Any Cisco qualifications will be highly regarded, however not essential
