Cook, Kitchenhand | North Strathfield, NSW | Full Time
Responsibilities for cook include but are not limited to:
- Examining food stuff to ensure quality
- Assisting with the maintenance and monitoring of Food Safety Program
- Operating and regulating temperatures of all cooking equipment including ovens, and grills
- Preparing sauces, stock, gravies and cooking food
- Seasoning food during cooking
- Storing food in temperature controlled facilities
- Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
- Assisting in planning menus and estimates food requirements
- Ensuring the kitchen is clean and dishes are washed
- Conducting continuous improvement activity to enhance catering services to residents
- Training to other kitchen staffs
- Maintaining a close working relationship with the Facility Manager and Chef
As the successful cook applicant, you will possess the following:
- Trade Cook Certificate
- Basic and Advanced Food Handling Courses
- Knowledge of OH&S
- Experience in menu planning
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Strong leadership abilities
- Excellent communication and written skills
Responsibilities for kitchen hand include but are not limited to:
- Wash and clean utensils and dishes, return to the kitchen and make sure they are stored appropriately
- Clean food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas
- Clean up spillages when they occur
- Ensure proper use of chemical/cleaning products and ensure they are stored appropriately
- Follow all hygiene and Health and Safety regulations within the kitchen
- Assist the Chef in the preparation and cooking of food, as required
- Follow direction toward portion control, cooking standards and wastage
- Maintain a positive and motivated work ethic in the kitchen at all times
- Handle, sort, store and distribute food items
- Follow instructions from the Chef or nominee
- Any other duties the employer may reasonably require
As the successful kitchen applicant, you will possess the following:
- Trade Cook Certificate
- Basic and Advanced Food Handling Courses
- Knowledge of OH&S
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Excellent communication and written skills
The ideal candidates will have a strong understanding and knowledge of Korean food and ingredients. You will be reporting directly to the Restaurant Manager, chef, and director of the company however, you will also display strong leadership skills as kitchen hand staff, waitresses and delivery drivers will be reporting to you and you may be required to train other kitchen staff and apprentices.
